My Design Philosophy

The core of great design is not just beauty. I believe that problem solving, practicality, communication and collaboration are the pillars in any great design.

I use these aforementioned pillars as the core of my design philosophy. At the end of the day, users are happy with a practical solution that solves their problems while the team feels ownership of the winning product through great communication and collaboration.

My Design Process

I start by asking questions to understand the problem statement and observe what users do and say, focusing on what their needs might be. Then I like to absorb and process data for the โ€œwhatโ€ and qualitative insights for the โ€œwhyโ€. After getting a clear picture of the what and why, I then thoughtfully shape my methods accordingly to the problem for the โ€œhowโ€œ. More detail can be found in my project portfolio. Throughout the whole design process, I constantly challenge myself and my teammates to check whether our direction is still relevant and if we are still solving the right problem for our users.

I like to come up with many possible ideas and solutions to the problem that I am solving. Then, I pare the ideas and solutions down by using quick stitched prototypes to test if the ideas and solutions are sufficient or not. I continue the process until Iโ€™ve reach the best outcome for my users in timely manner.

What Makes Me Stand out

Iโ€™m adaptable. I have successfully designed and delivered products at a global scale, working with the diverse set of people on product in many different domains.

Iโ€™m practical. Having worked in real teams with real deadlines, I am able to balance design ideals with real world business or technical constraints to deliver pragmatic solutions.

Iโ€™m personable. Designing a great product is like telling a great story that resonates with end-users. Using my personable personality to connect deeply with people, I can research and design in more compelling ways and better craft a narrative for a product to its users.
